About Us
Li Wajhillah, founded in March 2012 by a group of compassionate Muslim women, was born out of a desire to support the less privileged in society. Officially registered as a charitable organization in The Gambia on October 8, 2013 (Registration No: 606/2013), the organization’s name, Li Wajhillah, translates to “for the sake of Allah,” reflecting the principle of sincerity at the heart of its work.
Inspired by the verse from the Holy Qur’an (Surah Insaan 76:9) — “We feed you for the sake of Allah alone; no reward do we desire from you nor thanks” — the charity is dedicated to assisting the most vulnerable in society, including orphans, widows, the sick, the disabled, and the poor.
